Educating Children &
Empowering Women in Central America
Make a Powerful Impact in the Lives of Children & Women in Central America With Education & Empowerment Tools
Our Mission to Help Women & Children Break the Cycle of Poverty Is Powered by Your Donations to Your Central American Nonprofit
The Foundation for the Higher Good is about more than providing food and healthcare for Central American communities. We’re also passionate about supporting the education and empowerment of women and children. These underserved populations are often kept in cycles of poverty and young motherhood due to a lack of education and resources, and we want to end this cycle and bring hope to women and children.
By sponsoring a child's schooling, introducing sex education to girls and women, and empowering women to learn a trade and seek help when they need it, The Foundation for the Higher Good is working to develop healthy, modern communities in rural Central America.

Give Central American children the tools & financial resources they need to receive an education with The Foundation for the Higher Good
Since 2019, we've been working to ensure children from various parts of Guatemala have access to education. While the government mandates nine years of schooling, many children still miss out due to a variety of reasons, including financial constraints and different cultural expectations placed on boys and girls. This is especially true for indigenous children living in more rural parts of Central America. Access to education is hindered due to their rural location and lack of transportation to the closest school. When children aren’t able or expected to attend school, their education is pushed to the side.
Girls face particular barriers, as cultural norms prioritize boys' education over girls', perpetuating cycles of poverty. This is because boys are believed to have more income-earning opportunities, and their education should be prioritized to meet that belief. Our project focuses on indigenous children, particularly girls, aiming to break this cycle and provide them with educational opportunities. Beyond academic education, we also address life skills education, including sexual education, which is often taboo and inadequately addressed. Without sex education, girls can fall pregnant, preventing them from attending school and placing them in a similar situation to their mothers' experience. The Foundation for the Higher Good seeks to give girls the tools and financial support they need to attend school and receive an education.
Thanks to donations from individuals in Europe and the US, we've been able to support around 25 children across different grades. If you'd like to help, you can donate to support a child's education, receive updates on their progress, and make a tangible difference in their lives.
Our work to empower & connect women in Central America is generating employment opportunities & creating powerful bonds
Empowering Central American women is one of the most important causes we support. Without community connection and building skills for employment, women will not have the chance to earn a living or build relationships with their peers. The Foundation for the Higher Good is actively working to empower Central American women.
In Magdalena (Antigua, Guatemala), we work with over 80 women, helping them in various ways. First, we connect with them and manage projects to build friendships and create a supportive community. In Guatemala, forming friendships, especially among women, can be challenging due to cultural norms, so having a community of women with whom they can share their problems is crucial.
Through projects like handcrafts, the women can sell their creations at markets, earning money to improve their lives and their families' lives. They learn valuable skills, which they can use to become more independent. Our local helpers advocate for women's rights and personal development, combining these efforts with regular meetings.
At Lake Atitlan, we have another project where indigenous women can seek immediate help. We integrate this project with our other initiatives, such as eco-friendly housing and food security, to provide comprehensive support to families. For instance, if a woman can't afford enough food for her family, she can receive food bags through our Food Security project. Additionally, the women get emotional support and can talk to our helpers on-site.
Overall, our projects provide both material and emotional support, helping women know their rights and fight for equality. Your donation can help us continue this vital work. Join us in empowering these women by donating today.
